The Joy of Forest Bathing
I spent much of my childhood outdoors exploring nature and playing tennis in a city park, but as a young adult building a career, I relegated my time outdoors to weekend hikes and camping now and then. While these times were relaxing, I had forgotten the true sense of wonder and peace I felt in nature as a child. And even though my education included a science focus, the research-based, therapeutic benefits of nature connection were not well known.
And then several factors changed my awareness. The research Richard Louv provided in his seminal book Last Child in the Woods profoundly inspired me to enter a path of personal practice and professional facilitation of nature connection.
I learned the scientific case for developing a positive relationship with nature. And I discovered the joy of sharing nature with my children, which sparked strong memories of my childhood deeply immersed in the natural world.
15 years ago, I decided to combine my previous teaching and performance background with my science degree and passion for the environment. I began working in the environmental field, specifically in urban communities to connect children and residents with the benefits of urban natural environments--in city parks, community gardens and other green spaces. I had the joy and privilege of building coalitions and programs to reconnect people to nature.
When the practice of Shinrin-yoku/Forest bathing in Japan made its way to the U.S. a few years back, it was a certification I was excited to add to my knowledge and skills. I am really thrilled to share this program with you in a number of ways.
I am offering in-person guided walks using the certified Forest Therapy program, a relaxing and delightful experience. I also consult with clients to create a beautiful, natural, in-home environment that incorporates essential elements of forest therapy.

“We are not separate from nature. We are physically and spiritually part of the natural world. Like the vibrations spreading through a plucked spider web, the energy, chemistry and spirit of every interaction happens in concert with all life on earth."
